Union Rescue Mission is currently seeking to fill the following positions:

 
Medical Assistant

Health Center Administrator and will work under supervision of Health Center Coordinator and Medical/Nursing staff. Assist with patient flow procedures, intaking, starting medical records, placing patients in exam rooms, assisting medical staff with examinations and procedures, perform diagnostic testing and screening and contacting security to assist with escorting patients to/from the Health Cen¬ter as needed. Graduate of approved medical assistant school. Certification/Registration as medical assistant by national accrediting/certification body. Calm, consistent, flexible disposition to work with patients who can be manipulative, angry and/or mentally ill. Ability to keep patient confidentiality and not disclose any patient information to others at any time. Have a yearly physical examination and/or TB skin test evaluation.

Human Resources Assistant

Provides broad-based administrative support to the Human Resources office.  Handles in-coming calls; prepares and processes correspondence; prepares reports and maintains office records and files. Responsibilities are to provide administrative support to the Human Resources office. To coordinate meetings/seminars as needed, i.e., managers meetings, new hire orientations, benefit orientations, 401(k) open enrollment, etc. Maintain Calendar and appointments for HR team. Assist with the recruiting process i.e., resume tracking, coordinating interviews, initial phone screening, fax background check forms, etc. Prepare new hire/benefit packets and maintain a ready inventory.  Lead Social Committee in planning and setting up for employee events and activities. Maintain personnel and other related files, heavy phone volume, copy, fax and distribute correspondence, mail or other printed materials; order and maintain office supplies and materials. Equivalent of Bachelor’s degree and at least 2-3 years progressively responsible, related experience.  Must have basic knowledge of benefits administration, leave of absences and workers compensation. Excellent planning, organizing, verbal/written communication, research and PC Skills.

Human Resources Intern

Provides broad-based administrative/recruitment support to the Human Resources Department.  Assist with the recruiting process i.e., resume tracking, job posting and advertisement of positions. Student will have opportunity to learn essential basics about the Human Resources field.  Student must have reliable transportation. Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program and interested in working in Human Resources. Must have excellent communication skills. Professional demeanor must always be present.

GIK Representative

The purpose of this position is to assist the organization by bringing in donated items. This position will be involved in the appreciation, visitation, telephonic and written communication to donors. The GIK rep will also be involved in the research, networking, and development of special projects & outreach programs. Responsibilities include: Authoring and editing companion communications and materials, as well as authoring and editing other materials as requested by other departments i.e. (newsletters, thank-you’s, etc.). Facilitating special events & projects throughout the year. Equivalent of High School degree and 2-3 years progressively responsible experience working with donors or general business. Able to analyze data and develop innovative solutions; excellent planning, organizing, written, verbal and PC skills, particularly Excel and Word.

Receptionist (Evening Shift)

Occupies the front desk of entry at this organization. Promptly, accurately, professionally and courteously receives 100% of all telephone calls and visitors for the Union Rescue Mission. Must enjoy working in ministry related environment. Accustomed to using all features of the telephone system and voice mail. Answer security radio and make emergency phone calls. Sign in and out visitors and program participants on computer system. Respond to public inquiries. Excellent customer service skills. Non-profit and security experience is a plus. Equivalent of high school diploma and 2+ year progressively responsible, related experience and excellent organizing and communication skills.

Maintenance Representative

The Maintenance Electrician position at Union Rescue Mission will assist the Maintenance Department in the operation, repair and maintenance of the main facility as well as the other leased/owned properties of the Union Rescue Mission. This includes making any necessary repairs and upgrades to the buildings, as well as interfacing with vendors. Interacts with and oversees work of contractors/vendors, who assist in the operation and maintenance of the facility. Ensures that all work is done in a satisfactory manner and in accordance with service contract agreements. 4+ years experience in electrical construction and/or maintenance Experience in one or more of the following trades: H.V.A.C. mechanical, electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, equipment repair. Must have a high school degree with a minimum two-year college degree or completion of trade school or equivalent.

Desktop Support Helpdesk Representative

Must have excellent customer service skills and enjoy working in ministry related environment along with applying technical expertise.  The person in this position will provide Helpdesk and Desktop computer support. Provides help desk support, PC repair and upgrades (both hardware and software), installation of peripherals (printers, scanners, cameras, PDA devices, etc.) diagnosis and resolution of hardware and software issues for the purpose of improving user and departmental productivity, efficiency and connectivity.  Supports URM staff with computer and telephone related instruction, set-up and maintenance Equivalent of a high school diploma and 3+ years prior related experience.  A+ and NET+ certification (or demonstrated equivalent skills).  Good working knowledge of Windows NT, 2000, and XP operating systems.  Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).  Good organizational and communications skills.

Administrative Assistant (Women’s Ministries)

To perform various secretarial and administrative work in support of the Women’s Ministries staff and Program Director.  Must enjoy working in ministry related environment. Must be bilingual (Spanish).  Individual will have a role interfacing with the public, staff, and outside agencies. This requires the ability to utilize effective public relations and liaison skills. The responsibilities are as follows: Perform secretarial duties including a variety of support functions to the Program Director. Assist the Women’s Guest Services and Program staff with various assigned projects. Excellent with the Microsoft office package (Word, Excel PowerPoint and Outlook). Need to be able to create, process and maintain Monthly Statistical Reports and process and maintain a variety of documents and administrative records.

Accountant

The Accountant position works closely with the Controller to support the functions of the Accounting department.  This department is in charge of keeping the books covering all phases of accounting.  Financial transactions are classified, recorded and summarized by this department producing monthly Financial Statements for the organization and its affiliates.  This position strives to improve the efficiency and maintain the integrity of the department. Bachelors Degree and 3+ years progressively responsible, related experience; non-profit accounting experience preferred; able to analyze complex data and develop innovative solutions; excellent planning, organizing, written, verbal and PC skills, particularly Excel and Word; Platinum a plus.

 Youth Services Hope Gardens (Sylmar Location)
1(Full-Time) 2(Part-Time)

Keep current records of students enrolled in the program, generate reports as needed. Monitor homework assignments and tutor children. Assign educational exercises. Monitor computer Internet. Provide supervision for gym use. Keep daily log of interaction with children. Prepare and teach classes on various subjects. Oversee and assist with children’s worship and praise dancing. Event attendance and planning.

Residential Assistant Hope Gardens (Sylmar Location)
1(Full-Time) 2(Part Time-Weekend)

The person in this position will manage and monitor the evening activities of women and family residents at Hope Gardens; to promote a safe and secure environment in the dorm areas. Provide crisis intervention case management, information and referrals, accessing appropriate community resources, advocacy, transportation assistance, provision of personal hygiene items, etc. Must enjoy working in ministry based environment.  Equivalent of High School diploma required and at least 2 years progressively responsible, related experience (social services, community relations).

Admin. Assistant Hope Gardens (Sylmar Location)

Serves as a liaison with management, the public, clients, volunteers, other agencies and government officials. Prepares reports and maintains appropriate inventory of supplies. Must have excellent customer service. High school diploma or equivalent; 2-3 years years progressively responsible, related experience; excellent planning, organizing, verbal/written and PC skills. We are currently seeking to fill the following Eimago positions:

Case Manager (F/T and P/T positions)

Responsible for direct client case management and assessment for Parolee Service Center contract.  Provide comprehensive services in assessing client needs and documenting information in order to make casework decisions.  Communicates and coordinates service provision with collateral community agencies.  The position is to work cooperatively with other Eimago programs as well as supportive service departments with some freedom to select work methods and to use professional judgment for each case management decision.  BSW from an accredited school and or a minimum of 3 years paid professional experience in a commensurate social service setting with a noteworthy experience in providing case management. Excellent planning, organizing, verbal/written and PC skills. Strong detail orientation.
