Richard Sykes was named Vice President of Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Union Rescue Mission in January of 1999.  With nearly 40 years of public and private accounting experience in the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors, Mr. Sykes possesses a lifetime of knowledge and professional expertise in corporate finance.  

Prior to joining Union Rescue Mission, Mr. Sykes served eight years as the Chief Financial Officer for the United Way of Greater Los Angeles; earlier he was an auditor for KPMG Peat Marwick.  Mr. Sykes has served in the healthcare industry in a variety of financial capacities, for a number of different providers including Tenet, Unihealth, and Ross Loos Medical Group (now Cigna Healthcare).   His areas of expertise and experience include financial reporting, cash flow management, budgeting, information technology, facilities management, and contract and risk management.  Mr. Sykes holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Arizona State University.

Mr. Sykes is deeply involved in his church community where he provides donated financial services.  His hobbies include jogging, racquetball, and traveling.  Mr. Sykes is a loving husband and proud father, and grandfather, of three sons, and three grandchildren.
