"This experience made me realize that there are a lot of people out there that could use my help," confessed Leticia, after delivering hygiene boxes to some of our Skid Row neighbors. "The people who received our gift boxes were truly grateful.”
Leticia was one of 300 volunteers who delivered almost 3,000 hygiene boxes to people in the Skid Row community for our annual Easter Box Outreach on April 7
th. Union Rescue Mission has been distributing these boxes of love during the Easter and Thanksgiving seasons for over 3 years as a way of providing some much needed items to our neighbors and letting them know that we care about them.
For a few Saturdays in March, volunteers worked hard packing these boxes filled with various hygiene items in our warehouse. And then on April 7
th, volunteers gathered to distribute the boxes and bless the community. Caroline noticed, "I learned that people have it really, really hard, and this simple box was really important to them. Something as simple as a box of hygiene products can be so helpful."
These volunteers gave up a little of their time on a Saturday morning and saw how a simple act can make a difference in the life of someone in need.
